Greg Basham, husband of Scottie Basham, who is on the Tampa Bay Board of Directors, led the meeting. People in attendance: Greg Basham, Ainsley Basham, Myrna Koch, Alanna Koch, John Koch, Kaylee Ritzentahler, Lisa Gaudette, Robert Gaudette. We met with Congresswoman Brown-Waite in her office and discussed her support for the recent extension of the Special Diabetes Program as part of the Medicare bill passed by Congress last year. I also took the time to ask for her support of H.R. 2762, legislation to renew the Special Diabetes Program. The Congresswoman explained she had two sisters who currently live with Type 2 diabetes. Kaylee Ritzentahler talked to the Representative about some of the challenges associated with going to school with diabetes. Each of the children briefly discussed some of the difficulties they face. The Congresswoman explained she grew up with Asthma and remembers having to go to see the school nurse quite often herself. It was a good meeting.
