Dear JDRF Families,

We're honored to lead JDRF's fifth Promise to Remember Me Campaign, which will be our most important to date as we call on our representatives to increase funding for type 1 diabetes research.

JDRF has had a real impact in Washington, D.C., and our Promise Campaign meetings, which take place across the country with Members of Congress, help "drive home" the message that there are millions of people living with diabetes and its complications in every hometown in the U.S.

For the 2008 Campaign, we've set an ambitious target of 400 meetings with legislators between summer 2007 and spring 2008. And our message is bigger and bolder than ever: asking Congress for $1 billion over the next five years for type 1 diabetes research.

That's 400 meetings, with a goal of $1 billion in funding. Think of that as just $2.5 million per meeting! And if that dollar figure strikes you as a tall order, consider this: how much is more funding, more research, and a faster cure worth to you?

Our aim as Co-Chairs of the 2008 Promise to Remember Me Campaign is to help you find your voices as advocates and meet with as many legislators as possible, to tell your stories and let Members of Congress know how important it is to continue the search for a cure.

Help take the lead in this important campaign! Gather your family and sign up to attend a Promise to Remember Me meeting in your community.

With each of us doing our part, together we will find a cure for diabetes. We look forward to working with all of you!
