Promise Blog

Welcome to the Promise Campaign Blog. This is where the story of the Campaign unfolds each day between August 2011 and May 2012. Check back to get the inside scoop on our progress from the JDRF Advocacy staff, catch profiles on JDRF Advocates from across the country and read periodic updates from our co-chairs.

The end of the summer wraps up with some amazing successes for JDRF's Promise to Remember Me Campaign. Earlier this week I had mentioned that we managed to complete or schedule 113 meetings before August ended, surpassing our goal of 100! This is due to the leadership of our Campaign Coordinators and your support for them locally... as I write this, the Campaign sits at 124 meetings!

A goal we focus on at JDRF Advocacy is trying to come up with approaches that allow us to spread our hope for a cure as far and wide as possible. One of the things we use to do this is are social media site like Facebook and Twitter.

The feedback from Promise meetings has started rolling in, and I want to make sure you get a chance to hear all about the different meetings our advocates have attended across the country. Starting today, we will be doing a weekly meeting digest highlighting some of the feedback we have received. Check out some of the recently completed meetings below!

As I've mentioned in previous blog posts, the Promise Campaign is JDRF's most important advocacy effort.  There is simply no substitute for our Advocates sharing their stories of living with diabetes directly with Members of Congress and each other.

The Promise to Remember Me Campaign has finally arrived! Over 1,100 advocates and their families have already signed up to meet with their legislators, will you? The Promise Campaign is essential to building relationships between JDRF advocates and Members of Congress, and this year we are aiming to hold 432 meetings. This morning, when I checked into the office and logged onto the Promise to Remember Me Campaign website, I excitedly exclaimed, ’90 more meetings to go and we’ll get our hundred in August!’ Why, you ask am I excited about hitting our goal of a 100 meeting in August, when we still have 90 more meetings to schedule? Simple, I believe in YOU as a JDRF advocate and what you can make happen when YOU share your stories of living to diabetes. (So attend a Promise meeting!)
