I hope you all have enjoyed the fantastic information that has been coming out of JDRF Government Day since Saturday! With the preparations for the event last week, I didn't get a chance to share the February Promise Campaign results with you. When we passed the initial goal for the February challenge, we set our sights higher: matching or surpassing the total from the same month during last year's Promise Campaign.

Government Day, PRMC, Promise Campaign
Here at JDRF Advocacy, we are getting ready for grassroots leaders from around the country to join us in Washington, D.C. for our annual Government Day event, so we are pretty busy! However, I wanted to make sure to let you know about some of the Promise Campaign meetings that have recently occurred. Many of these meetings happened over the Presidents' Day recess thanks to advocates like you! I am going to provide you with a full breakdown of the Promise campaign results from February next week, but in the meantime, check out some of the recently posted meeting summaries below. Stay tuned to the blog this weekend for updates from Government Day!

The Promise Campaign has reached another milestone on the road to 432: 350 meetings scheduled or occurred! The Promise meeting number 350 was with Representative Duncan Hunter, who represents the 52nd district in California. Congratulations to the volunteers and staff at the San Diego Chapter for working together to obtain the meeting that brought us to this point!

As the February congressional recess winds down, we are getting even closer to our February goal. So far, there have been 41 meetings scheduled this month, bringing the Promise Campaign total tantalizing close to the 350 marker! We need just 1 more meeting to reach that milestone, and 7 more to reach the goal set by the February challenge.
How many meeting do you think campaign coordinators will schedule in February? Leave me your best guess in the comments below, and then check out some of our recently completed meeting summaries!

Hello Advocates!
It’s hard to believe we are nearing end of the Promise to Remember Me Campaign!
Thank you to everyone who has scheduled and attended each of these meetings. At its core, the Promise campaign is an opportunity for children and adults with Type 1 to tell their stories as normal people in extraordinary circumstances – people who deserve to have research continue so that this disease can one day be a thing of the past. Promise meetings put a face on this disease for our Members of Congress. It is your stories that they remember when issues related to diabetes come before Congress.

I have been enjoying my time as the Midwest co chair of this Promise to Remember Me Campaign for JDRF! It has been my pleasure to work with wonderful volunteers and staff from across the country toward this big goal we have set. Beyond the numbers, it feels good to give our community a voice, one that can truly make a difference. I hope that this campaign has also made people feel less alone in dealing with Type 1.
