Promise to Remember Me Campaign: Campaign Steps

“One of the Nation’s Most Forceful Disease Advocacy Groups”

--Time magazine

Looking to do more to help JDRF and our Advocacy Program?

In addition to building relationships with Members of Congress by completing Promise meetings, our Advocates work together to recruit others to join our cause. We form local teams, bonded together by their personal connections to type 1, that are dedicated to working in their communities to help advance JDRF’s legislative agenda. Just a few minutes of your time each month can change a legislator's mind and help find a cure.

There are several different ways that you can get involved…

Step Two: Attend a Meeting

Be sure to:

  • Take your camera.
  • Review the Campaign message points.
  • Tell your story about diabetes and ask the legislator to "promise to remember you" when making decisions about diabetes.
  • Take a photograph of all of the meeting attendees with your legislator.

Step Three: Share & Send Your Story

One person in your group of attendees will be appointed to submit a photo along with a summary of the meeting. You can visit the Meeting Feedback area of our website to submit your meeting information or call us at 800-533-1868 to have a form mailed to you.

Please take the time to send your legislator(s) a thank you note.

In your note, please restate your relation to diabetes and ask for the legislator to support an increase in funding for type 1 diabetes research.
