Promise Meeting Spotlight: The Schutt Family and Rep. Eric Cantor

Ned and I were absolutely thrilled to visit with Representative Cantor (R-VA-7) and Elliott Yamin for the Promise to Remember me kick-off in Washington, D.C. on August 1st.  That excitement was matched by the deep appreciation we felt towards Rep. Cantor for deciding to cosponsor the Special Diabetes Funding bill in the House.

Rep. Cantor is a member of the House leadership and his support will mean a great deal as we push this important funding forward.   It was one of the proudest days of my life watching my brave son making a real difference in the fight to find a cure.  I am so proud of Ned and all the brave souls that deal with this disease everyday and lead the fight for a cure.  You are my hero son!

It is important for all to know that Rep. Cantor and his staff went out of their way to recognize the continuous efforts of JDRF and volunteers like Ned and Mike Anderson specifically for visiting their offices through campaigns like Promise.

KEEP THE CALLS AND LETTERS COMING AND GET OUT TO SEE YOUR REPRESENTATIVES.  WE CAN TELL YOU FIRST HAND IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE.   Keep up the great work.

Finally, we left D.C. more inspired than ever that a cure is in sight and thrilled with the efforts of JDRF and the volunteers.  Keep the energy and efforts going and we will win this battle. Click here to see the summary from our kick-off event and meeting with Rep. Cantor.

About the Promise Campaign

The Promise Campaign is a coordinated effort to schedule and complete as many meetings as possible between representatives and senators and their constituents in their local districts. In addition to building relationships with federal lawmakers, it allows JDRF to continue the momentum and messaging established through our Children's Congress event.
