44 Meetings in 12 Days

What a terrific 12 days! Achieving our first milestone of a 100 meetings by August 31 is starting to become a reality as you continue your efforts in the field. As of writing this update, you’ve already scheduled or completed 44 meetings and more are getting scheduled daily. Keep up the pace and THANK YOU!!

Enthusiasm and Tactics

Everyone is approaching Promise with so much enthusiasm. We’ve been in contact with many of the campaign coordinators over the week and the details you’ve shared with us have been a great motivator both for us and the Advocacy staff!

Late last week, you may have received an email from the JDRF GR office if you had registered to attend a Promise meeting. This email provided registrants an opportunity to take the lead in a Promise meeting during the August recess by attending town hall sessions during the month. We’ve had several Promise registrants follow up with the GR office that are willing to support our efforts! As more registrants express interest in attending town hall sessions to complete Promise meetings in August, the GR office will guide and support their efforts.

Resource Updates
During the week, some exciting new tools were added to the public facing of the Promise Campaign site. We need you to utilize these tools and help us spread the word about our Promise efforts. See below for some things you can do to help:

  • Facebook Connect: now you can share meetings that your advocates complete on Facebook (FB) by simply clicking the ‘F’ icon above a meeting’s summary.
  • Share Button: this will allow you to not only share meetings on FB but also other popular social networking sites you may use.
  • Twitter: Near the summary text of a meeting you can ‘tweet’ or share the meeting results with your Twitter ‘followers’.
  • Promise Widget: This is a great way for you to encourage your family and friends to join you in the Promise Campaign. To help us spread the word about Promise, click the ‘F’ icon or the ‘Share’ button on this page to get people to register to attend a meeting.
  • Blog Comments: You can now leave comments on any blog posting, so be sure to leave some thoughts after you're done reading this posting!

Thanks for all your effort!

About the Promise Campaign

The Promise Campaign is a coordinated effort to schedule and complete as many meetings as possible between representatives and senators and their constituents in their local districts. In addition to building relationships with federal lawmakers, it allows JDRF to continue the momentum and messaging established through our Children's Congress event.
