My Promise Meeting With Congressman Bill Posey!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

While getting ready for Children’s Congress 2009, I had made a scrapbook of my life before and after becoming diabetic. I wanted to give it to Congressman Posey during the JDRF CC2009 Hill Blitz, but he was unable to attend the meeting during CC. So, I gave it to his Health Aide, Stuart Burns, who said he would give the book to Mr. Posey. While we were driving to the meeting, I asked my mom if she thought Congressman Posey had read my scrapbook, and my mom said to just go ahead and ask Mr. Posey at the meeting. When my mom and I entered the office for a Promise meeting on August 18, 2009, Congressman Posey said that he had not only read my scrapbook and that it was being proudly displayed in his office in Washington D.C. (before I even had a chance to ask him!).

After our meeting with Congressman Posey, I felt good about his support for JDRF and the renewal of the Special Diabetes Program funding. He knew a lot about diabetes and he said that he has been involved with my local walk for several years now, since one of his friend’s kids is a type 1 diabetic.

I think that was a very mind blowing thing that you did and I'm shure it was a great experiance. I'd love to hear more about it.
